FUZZY WUZZY MATH

THE FOLLOWING IS A Q AND A WITH PRESIDENT BUSH THIS WEEK.

Q: … American and Iraqi health officials today released a report saying that 655,000 Iraqis have died since the Iraq war. That figure is 20 times the figure that you cited in December at 30,000. Do you care to amend or update your figure?

BUSH: No, I don't consider it a credible report. Neither does General Casey and neither do Iraqi officials.
I do -- I do know that a lot of innocent people have died, and that troubles me. And it grieves me. And I applaud the Iraqis for their courage in the face of violence.
I am, you know, amazed that this is a society which so wants to be free that they're willing to -- you know, that there's a level of violence that they tolerate.
And it's now time for the Iraqi government to work hard to bring security in neighborhoods so people can feel -- can feel, you know, at peace.
No question it's violent. But this report is one -- they put it out before. It was pretty well -- the methodology is pretty well discredited.
… But I, you know, talk to people like General Casey. And, of course, the Iraqi government put out a statement talking about the report. I, you know, I stand by the figure a lot of innocent people have lost their life. 600,000 or whatever they guessed at is just, it's not credible.

SINCE PRESIDENT BUSH IS SAVING THE HOMELAND AND PERHAPS THE , YOU KNOW, WORLD, I SEE NO REASON FOR, YOU KNOW, FUZZY MATH OR DEFENSIVE NITPICKING.

The only count that matters is US body bags. We need to get out right now and General Casey can go back to F Troop.

Hey! Come on! Who are you going to believe? The Bush administration who told us the lies about WMD, the Iraq- Al Queda connection, and the Iraq-9-11 connection, or Johns Hopkins who underwrote the report? You can never trust those %$^&* egghead liberals in academia.

So What Else is New?

The ignorance of the American public is incredible. Where is our enlightened citizenship? Where are our young adults and college students? It's so depressing... the apathy, the ignorance.

SOMETIMES GET THE NOTION THAT WE'RE BECOMING A DYSFUNCTIONAL COUNTRY. PERHAPS SPOILED BY OUR OWN GREAT SUCCESS.
HEARD SECRETARY OF EDUCATION SPELLING SAY ON A RECENT INTERVIEW THAT PEOPLE IN OTHER COUNTRIES ARE MUCH HUNGRIER THAN US. MAYBE WE'RE TOO STRESSED OUT FROM THE PROCESS OF GETTING AND MAINTAINING TO PEEK INTO THE FUTURE OR CONSIDER THAT THERE'S MUCH OF A WORLD OUTSIDE OF OUR OWN SKIN.
COUNTED THE PAGES IN A NEWSPAPER LAST WEEK.........33 PAGES OF SPORTS. 8 OF THE NATION AND THE WORLD.

I agree with quicksand. There does seem to be an arrogant egocentricity in the consciousness of Americans. Is it because we have enjoyed a rather high standard of living with all our creature comforts? Have we begun to feel that somehow they are our birthright? Has this bred a feeling of superiority compared to our less spoiled friends in other countries? Perhaps the fact that we are geographically so big and that our borders spread from "sea to shining sea" that we have come to think of ourselves as seperate and detached from the rest of the world? It is impossible to live in Europe without being conscious of being connected to other countries. Countries border each other there like states border each other here. Does that give them a more intimate relationship (and respect) with other languages, cultures and life styles? In most European communities the citizens are at least bilingual. Can we say that about Americans? I wonder if there are expressions in other countries such as "God Bless Norway; God Bless Hungary; God Bless Germany etc." I get the feeling in this country when we say, "God Bless America," we are suggesting that it is at the expense of other countries , that somehow God loves us more than others, because "We're #1." (Who is #2, 3, and 4?) Of course I could be wrong.

When it comes to those insulated from the hard work of experience, and every day more and more of us eithier lose our hunger or never develop it (as is the case with many in this generation of incoming Elementary Aged children)I believe that Johnny Rotten said it best.....God Save the Queen, She ain't a human Being!!!!

I do not believe that God loves us more than those in other countries... But when we stood before ithe ascended masters prior to our birth, and asjkeed for this life God likely had something to do with sending us all here... There are many lessons to be learned ... but what events/experiences will teach us and will we ever learn??
