COMING CLEANER

SCOTT McCLELLAN IS PIMP-TOURING A BOOK ABOUT WHAT THE
AWAKE –AMONG- US KNEW ALL ALONG…THE ADMINISTRATION WASN’T JUST TORTURING PEOPLE. THEY WERE WATER BOARDING THE TRUTH.
THE BOOK’S TITLE, “WHAT HAPPENED”, IS ODDLY REMINISCENT OF THE ELDER DOCTOR’S JOURNAL, “HOW I DID IT” FROM “YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN”.
EVEN NOW, HE CONTINUES TO HAVE THAT QUAYLE –CAUGHT- IN- THE HEADLIGHTS LOOK, AS HE, LIKE COLIN POWELL, REGRETTABLY ALL TOO LATE, TRIES TO WASH THE STENCH FROM HIS HANDS.
LIKE POWELL, McCLENNAN HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO RIGHT THE COURSE HIS COUNTRY WAS TAKING, INSTEAD OF STAYING THE COURSE.

THE FOLLOWING POST IS FROM ANN SNEED.

Hiya! For a change, I don’t agree w/you. I started to write this yesterday, but was interrupted. This a.m., the easiest thing is to ask you to read Frank Rich and Maureen Dowd. To their cogent comments I can add little of interest or import. HOWEVER: Like all the others Bush has dismissed, McClellan (l’s, not n’s) is smarting. He shouldn’t be? He’s embarrassed by his own naivete. He believed in and trusted Dubya…God only knows how/why. If you’ve ever been betrayed by someone you trusted, then the raison d’etre of his book becomes clear. I remember spitting tacks while watching Scott McC. as press secretary; his non-answers to questions from the press were insultingly stupid. Clearly, he was a robot. I now applaud McClellan for “coming out.” The timing is constructive; it serves to smear even more egg on that damned fool McCain’s face. Appallingly, there are still blind and deaf people (what…37%?) who are unable to acknowledge the long-revealed truth about GWB. And there are lots more who think that John McCain is something more than a reckless playboy who did one thing right. Anyway, so read Rich & Dowd and rethink your condemnation of Scott McClellan. He doesn’t deserve to be beaten when he’s down.

dear Ann,

I would like to believe you. There is a convincing quality to your argument. However, your theory doesn't pass the sniff test. Throughout Fleisher's tenure and McClellan's tenure and Snow's tenure it was very clear to me that they were working very hard to obfuscate, and prevaricate to cover for the gross incompetence of Bush. I wasn't an insider and I am not that smart. Surely being somewhat within the inner circle (moreso than me certainly) it should have been abundantly clear to all of them the true nature of the beast they were singing praises for.

YES. I READ RICH AND DOWD. BOTH INTERESTING. THEY ARE BOTH CORRECT IN THAT THE BOOK FURTHER ENDORSES THE VULGAR TRUTH ABOUT THIS ADMINISTRATION.
MY ARGUMENT IS THAT McCLELLAN COULD NOT HAVE BEEN AS INNOCENT AS HE NOW PRETENDS TO BE. HE COULD HAVE SPOKEN OUT MUCH SOONER...FROM THE PODIUM...AND SAVED LIVES, MONEY, AND THE NATION FROM THIS FESTERING DISASTER.

YES, BEN FRIEND
THE ONE THING THAT THEY ALL KNEW, WAS THAT THEY WERE BEING MUCH LESS THAN HONEST WITH THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.
McCLELLAN CONTINUES TO, IN LARGE PART, DEFEND BUSH.

It appears to me that book sales were more important to Scott than a timely and honorable exposure of the Bush propaganda machine. MoveOn.org is asking him to take a pass on his book profits to restore his integrity. Fat chance of that!

THANKS SWEETS
WHAT WE SEE HERE IS AN ATTEMPT AT A PUBLIC REHABILITATION.
IT MAY BE TRUE THAT McCLELLAN WAS OFTEN KEPT IN THE DARK SO THAT HE MIGHT BE A MORE EFFECTIVE TOOL. THE BIG BOYS WANTED HIM TO GO OUT THERE WITH JUST ENOUGH INFORMATION SO THAT HE COULD ANSWER QUESTIONS WITHOUT HIS NOSE GROWING. ALSO KNOWN AS A 'USEFUL IDIOT'.
WHILE ANY MOVEMENT TOWARD THE TRUTH MUST BE WELCOMED, LET'S SPECULATE WHAT SCOTT McCLELLAN'S BOOK WOULD BE ABOUT IF THIS ADMINISTRATION HAD BEEN SUCCESSFUL IN THEIR ENDEAVORS.

Why are people taking Scott McClellan's book so personally? Why not just think of it as his OPINION, his recollection, his take on what happened...... His evaluation is what it is,and, if you all feel GW is getting a "raw deal" why didnt McCain, Sarah and the Rep Party want him to show his face........at the RNC? We should all be ASHAMED. Just look at the legacy he has left us...
