IT’S THAT TYPE OF RELATIONSHIP.
NOT PERFECT, BUT ADDICTIVE.
HE IS---- AS MOTHER USED TO SAY----“A GOOD PROVIDER.”
HE GIVES US EVERYTHING WE WANT.
HE WARMS US UP, GIVES US THINGS, AND TAKES US PLACES.
HE MAKES US FEEL GOOD.
WE NEED HIM---(A TRUTH WE HATE)---DESPERATELY.
YES. HE SPENDS ALL OUR SAVINGS ON OTHER WOMEN.
WE’VE THOUGHT ABOUT LEAVING.
OUR FRIENDS TELL US THAT WE’RE CRAZY.
BUT… HE MAKES US SO HAPPY.
HOW COULD WE EVER REALLY LIVE THE WAY WE DO, WITHOUT HIM?
THEN, THE DAY COMES…AGAIN…WHEN HE BEATS US SO BADLY WE BLEED.
WE SWEAR THAT IT’S OVER.
FINISHED.
THIS IS THE LAST TIME THAT WE’LL LET THAT MONSTER ABUSE US!
WE TALK ABOUT AN ORDER OF PROTECTION.
BUT HE BUYS US FLOWERS.
HE DOES THAT SPECIAL THING HE DOES SO WELL.
WE KNOW THAT HE'S NO GOOD FOR US, BUT...
MAYBE, JUST A FEW MORE BARRELS...

And where is this going?
YOU LOST ME??????
There's a metaphor here - right? But, help me out with it please.
So .... who's the monster?
BP? ... Oil Companies in general?
"DRILL BABY, DRILL"?
AS THEY SAY, "MY BAD."
I'LL DO SOME EDITING AND CLEAR THINGS UP.
can't let him go without a replacement...a kinder, gentler provider.
He's out there, we all know it, but, we also know he doesn't have the right connections. He gets pushed aside by the stronger, more powerful bullys...
DEAR RTHGRL,
YUP. HE'S OUT THERE...SOMEWHERE.
PROBABLY JUST A LITTLE TYKE.
NOW I GET IT. GREAT IDEA. I AM AFRAID WE ARE STUCK WITH THE BULLY WE KNOW.
