DOWN IN A HOLE

CHILEAN MINERS ARE TRAPPED IN A HOLE.
THE COMPANY EXCAVATED TOO DEEPLY AND DANGEROUSLY BECAUSE THEY WANTED TO EXTRACT MORE GOLD AND SILVER.
THE SHAFT’S INFRASTRUCTURE WAS SUB-STANDARD BECAUSE
GOVERNMENT CONTROLS WERE LAX.

THE MINERS ARE BEING KEPT ALIVE THROUGH A NARROW “FEEDING” TUBE.
IF AN ESCAPE PIPE CAN REACH THEM, THEY’LL BE PULLED FROM THE HOLE.
IT WILL TAKE A LONG TIME.
IT’S A STRUGGLE FOR LIFE.

WE TOO, ARE IN A DEEP HOLE.
WE WHISTLED PAST DANGERS AND DUG TOO DEEP.
WE WANTED MORE.
GOVERNMENT CONTROLS WERE RELAXED.
OUR FEEDING TUBE IS THE STIMULUS PACKAGE WHICH HASN’T BEEN VERY STIMULATING.
AMERICA WAITS FOR THE ESCAPE PIPE.
IT’S A STRUGGLE FOR A LIFE STYLE.

What an absolutely perfect analogy!

and the lifestyle is going to lose... the fall of the empire is around the corner, and that's not such a bad thing.

Too many politicians misspeaking, celebreties mistaking their coke for gum, athletes using steroids for performance enhancement.

It's time for a crash. No bailouts, no stimulus. Lessons will be learned.

Less is More.

YOU JUST MAY HAVE IT RIGHT.

America should learn from this but too many are Glenn Beckwashed and live on an alternate reality. People are dieing but as long as corporate amerika is making money those who are sheep are told by Fox faux news that it is Obama and the democrats to blame so let's go to a Tea Party and protest that we want our country back. Nothing else matters to the small minded

The key word is MORE.  The end of WWII was the beginning of the “American Dream” and the American Middle Class blossomed into existence.  The dream meant having enough. Our “wants” were basic, which meant having enough. Then came the booming of Madison Avenue.  Mad Ave’s product was MORE, and we bought what they were selling; more soon became America’s new standard.  “Want” was no more; expectations changed and the word became entitlement.
We can be grateful for George Bush, who brought it all to a screaming halt.  And we can be grateful for The New Yorker’s staff writer, Jane Mayer, whose article, “Covert Operations” in the August 30th issue exposes the main planners & enablers.  The mega billions of Charles & David Koch created and funded the (supposedly spontaneous) Peoples’s uprising, The Tea Party, and – of course – the GOP.  The irony is that Charles Koch despises the government he owns.

We assume that, because we've always rebounded in the past, we will rebound again.

Maybe.

History is loaded with cultures waiting to rebound.
